welcome
A very warm welcome from the students, staff and governors of Wolverhampton Girls’ High School.
Those of you who know of us already will probably have picked up on the school’s reputation for academic excellence, the fact that it appears regularly amongst the top schools in the country for its outcomes, and also its popularity amongst students and parents, which means that it is heavily oversubscribed.
All of this information will, of course, begin to paint a picture of the type of school that we are, but this is only a part of what is important to us as a community.
My priorities as Headteacher have always been, and will always be, the health, safety, well-being and happiness of both students and staff. Without this, nothing good can be achieved.
A couple of years ago, we all worked together to reshape our vision and aims for our school, and when you read them I trust that what you will see reflected there is a school where every individual is valued, where there is mutual support and a real concern for each other’s needs; in fact, as Ofsted so appropriately put it, this school has a real “family atmosphere”.
Providing every individual with a range of opportunities to achieve personal goals and to experience success is what we are all about, and that applies to our staff as well as our students. Joining our school community will certainly provide you with some real challenges, but it will also give you the opportunity to learn things about yourself as a person and to be supported to progress in your professional life.
I look forward to meeting you.

OUR VISION
Our school community is a place where:
- The traditions, ethos and reputation of the school provide a firm foundation for the future.
- Each individual is valued and respected; everyone is encouraged to express their own thoughts, ideas and opinions in the knowledge that these will be valued.
- Everyone is able to feel happy, healthy and safe.
- Organisation and routines foster an ordered and purposeful atmosphere.
- Mutual support and team work enable all to move forward together.
- All are able to experience the satisfaction of making progress and achieving personal goals.
Our school aims to provide an environment in which:
- Learning is an engaging and enjoyable process of discovery.
- Each person can achieve their potential in whatever they undertake.
- Everyone acts with tolerance and shows care, consideration and courtesy towards others.
- All receive the information and support necessary to make appropriate choices and decisions.
- The all-round development of each individual is nurtured by providing levels of pace and challenge appropriate to their capabilities.
- Learning styles, personal choices and aspirations are catered for.
- Students learn how to communicate effectively and to develop positive relationships.
- Each student develops an awareness of self, of her environment and her roles within it, and of her capacity to make a positive impact.
- Students develop the skills to become confident, independent, responsible members of the various communities to which they belong.
- Each student is equipped to achieve success, to respond and adapt to an ever-changing world and to manage effectively all aspects of her life.
