Pension
Ufi Ltd operates a Group Personal Pension Scheme and makes a contribution
equivalent to 10% of an employee's salary. The employee's contribution
is a minimum of 5%. There is also a stakeholder pension scheme for
employees who do not wish to contribute 5% of their salary. Both
schemes are offered through SMA Consultants Limited who provide
face-to-face advice and support on an individual basis. In addition,
pension workshops are regularly held, providing more general financial
advice and guidance.
All employees* are provided with life assurance cover of 3 times
their basic salary up to the age of 65, at no additional cost. *This
does not apply to staff who remained in Teachers Pension Scheme-
this option was withdrawn by the TPA on 1 April 2000.
Bonus
Ufi Ltd operates a company bonus scheme. Full details of how this
affects individuals will be notified upon appointment.
Occupational Sick Pay
Occupational Sick Pay is paid to all employees for a maximum of
130 working days. There is no qualifying period for occupational
sick pay. Ufi Ltd may require individuals to attend an appointment
with a nominated medical practitioner or specialist in the event
of long term sickness. Full details of the occupational sick pay
scheme are contained within the contract of employment.
Income Replacement Scheme
Ufi Ltd has an Income Replacement Scheme for employees contributing
to the Group Personal Pension Scheme. This becomes effective following
long-term sickness absence and is based on 75% of salary.
Annual Leave
Annual Leave for Ufi employees is 25 days per year, the leave year
commencing on 1 January. In the first year of employment, leave
is granted on a pro rata basis. There are also 8 statutory holidays
falling on public holidays throughout the year. In 2002 - 3 days
additional leave at Christmas.
Hours of Work
Ufi Ltd operates a core hours system, which allows flexibility
in working times to suit both service needs and personal circumstances.
Ufi Ltd recognises that there may be occasions where working longer
hours than those stated within the contract is necessary to ensure
business needs are met. To compensate for this, employees may aggregate
any additional hours worked in a two month period, to a maximum
of 7.5 hours, to be taken as an additional leave day in the following
month. The maximum number of days which may be aggregated in a 12
month period is 5.
Ufi Ltd also recognises that there may be occasions when it is
beneficial to the organisation for an individual to take time away
from the office environment in order to complete a particular piece
of work at home. Such occasions would need to be by prior agreement
with the Line Manager and in accordance with service needs. At these
times it may be possible to have access to a lap top computer for
home use.
Special/Unpaid Leave
Ufi Ltd recognises that there are occasions when it may be necessary
to take time away from work for a variety of reasons, outside of
normal leave arrangements. In these circumstances, Ufi Ltd will
consider each case on an individual basis, and will try, wherever
possible, to be responsive and sympathetic to requests of this nature.
Learning and Development
Ufi Ltd makes a major commitment to the continuous development
of its employees. Within the budget available and operational demands,
people will be encouraged to attend at least one professional update
per year. Development identified within the review process, as key
to the person achieving their objectives, will also be supported
internally or externally. Requests for support in relation to longer-term
development will be considered through a business case to the Director
and HR.
Internet Access
As an e-learning business, Ufi Ltd actively encourages appropriate
use of the Internet and email as a personal development tool. Employees
are entitled to access the Internet and email for personal use for
two hours each week, during lunch times or before/after working
hours, providing that they adhere strictly to the Internet access
Code of Practice.
Location and Car Parking
The head office of Ufi Ltd is located centrally and is therefore
accessible by public transport. In addition, it operates a car-park
rota system, which provides for parking of private vehicles on-site
on a regular basis. Separate arrangements exist at each of the regional
offices.
Free Beverages
Tea, coffee and bottled water are available free of charge. There
is a range of facilities available on site such as microwaves and
fridges.
Employee Counselling & Advice
A 24 hr, 365 days confidential telephone advice & counselling
service is available to all employees and their immediate families
through Coutts Corecare. The service included personal & legal
advice and where necessary, 6 face to face counselling sessions.

Professional Membership Fees
Ufi Ltd will pay one annual subscription fee per year for each
employee for membership of a relevant professional association.
Maternity, Paternity and Parental Leave
Entitlements under the Ufi Ltd Maternity Scheme vary according
to an employee's length of service. However, they are either equivalent
to, or more generous than, those required to comply with employment
legislation.
Relocation Expenses
Relocation expenses of up to £5000 are payable where it is
necessary to move the family home to enable you to undertake your
job at Ufi Ltd, providing that this move is planned or takes place
within the timescale indicated within the policies regulating such
payments.
