If you don’t know much about us yet, you might be surprised to learn about the size of our organisation. With an annual income in excess of £200 million and around 4,200 employees, we work to provide high-quality care services - not only for the 330,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre, but also for the 12 million people who visit the region each year.
Across several different sites, we offer acute, general, medical, surgical, maternity and elderly services. We also deliver specialist cardiac and haematology services to the whole of Lancashire and South Cumbria.
We’re an extremely successful Trust. We hit all of our key performance targets in 2008/2009 and have been named in the CHKS Top 40 Hospitals for the second year running. But we’re not complacent. We’re always looking for new ways to improve and offer ‘best in NHS’ care for every single one of our patients.
So what does all this mean for you? More variety and greater opportunities to grow your career, for a start. And it’s an exciting time to be joining us. With three multi-million pound developments on the go - a £40m surgical centre, £20m women’s and children’s unit and £8m urgent care centre – we’ve got great plans for the future.
But it’s not just our facilities we’re investing in. With significant funding and a firm commitment to training and tailored development, we’ll invest in you and your future too.
The Trust has become the first hospital in the country (and the first NHS employer in the North West) to receive a Gold award from Investors in People (IIP). Investors in People is a national organisation which sets out recognised standards for employers to help improve their performance. The Trust was praised for its culture of continuous development and its high level of stakeholder involvement.
The Trust’s Director of HR Nick Grimshaw said: "Less than one per cent of the current 35,000 organisations recognised as Investors in People have achieved Gold Status, highlighting how significant this award is.
This award is a huge boost to the Trust and the staff who work here, as it recognises the work we all do to make this a great place to work. We really want staff who work here to feel valued, recognised and developed to their full potential.”
