Message from the Principal, Ruth Robinson
Thank you for showing an interest in working at North Oxfordshire Academy. This is an exciting time for the Academy which opened on September 1st 2007 on the site of its predecessor school, Drayton. We moved into our spectacular new building and newly refurbished classrooms in September 2009 – staff and students are now benefiting from our 21st Century Learning Environment. All classrooms are fitted with a Promethean Whiteboard and a set of ActivExpression Learner Response Kits. We have fantastic sporting facilities, a purpose build theatre and a Media Arts Centre with MAC computers and facilities to allow sound recording, green screen filming and stop frame animation.
We are an 11-18 Academy, with 850 students currently on roll. Our roll will eventually rise to 1,150 with 250 students in the Sixth Form, which opened in September 2008. We are an IB World School, being the first non-fee paying school in Oxfordshire to be accredited to offer the International Baccalaureate in the Sixth Form. With ‘learning at the heart of all we do’ we aim to provide a rich and challenging personalised curriculum that will bring out the best in everyone. We are an Academy that is not frightened to take risks in order to develop a high quality curriculum and we encourage staff to offer ideas and to nurture the success of our students.
The Academy is a vibrant and forward-looking educational community with twin specialisms of Media and Communication with Business and Enterprise. We aim to be a place where staff can realise their ambitions and develop their careers. The Sponsor of our Academy is the United Learning Trust, who own 17 Academies and 9 Independent fee paying schools across the UK. Together, we are keen to involve staff in shaping our future ensuring that we remain an inclusive school in the heart of our community.
We have made incredible progress since opening as an Academy, with a growing reputation in our local community for high expectations, an innovative curriculum, and firm discipline. The young people who attend the Academy are fiercely proud of their achievements and of the transformation in ethos and attitude seen in the corridors and classrooms of the Academy.
As Principal, I take great pride in recruiting the right candidates for our Academy. We are looking to appoint passionate and talented teachers who relish the opportunity to be involved in a fast paced and innovative environment. If you are an aspirational and committed teaching professional looking for a school that is going to invest in your future, the Academy could be for you.
