Welcome

Welcome to Careers with Nicholas Chamberlaine Technology College.

We are a large, friendly, welcoming and vibrant school at the heart of the community of Bedworth in North Warwickshire. The school is oversubscribed in most years and has a growing sixth form.

Nicholas Chamberlaine was a Rector of Bedworth in the seventeenth century. His bequest to the town was, and still is, that we should place a high value on education. We live up to his legacy by having high expectations of students and staff, by continually raising our aspirations for the school and its community and by promoting in our students self-belief and strong moral values. We are looking for colleagues who want to share in this vision.

Our school motto is "Excellence Opens All Doors" and this encapsulates the beliefs and values that underpin our work. It is our belief that all our students have the potential for excellence. We work hard to ensure there to be a businesslike and purposeful learning atmosphere in the school where good behaviour allows teachers to teach and students to learn. This is fundamental if student progress is to be outstanding.

We have a close and effective partnership with our parents and carers. We listen to their views and use them to inform the work of the school. Attendance at Parents' Consultation evenings and school events is very high, the Parents' Association is exceptional in supporting the school and the very effective Governing Body has a full representation of parents.

Our excellent curriculum is broad and balanced and offers many exciting opportunities for all students both in school and out. There is a real vocational element, particularly at 14-19 and our Specialism brings a strong technological feel to the curriculum. There are tremendous opportunities for extra-curricular sport, performing arts, Duke of Edinburgh and the like and every year there are many trips. November saw a production of Hairspray, with over 600 people in the audience on Friday night alone. We believe there is something for everyone at this school.

I took up my post as Headteacher in January 2008 and genuinely feel it is an honour and privilege for me to be able to lead and develop further the education of the children at Nicholas Chamberlaine Technology College. It is a fantastic place with which to be involved and I believe the school is going from strength to strength. We welcome applications from colleagues at all stages in their career, including those seeking to gain QTS. We place a high priority on staff development and have a strong and very successful INSET and induction programme. We invite you to visit us so that you can see the school at work and see for yourself the opportunities open to you at Nicholas Chamberlaine Technology College.

I look forward to welcoming you to the school.

Yours sincerely
