About Us

NHS Bedfordshire is responsible for the health of all people living in Bedfordshire. We directly employ more than 1,200 staff, serving a population of over 420,000 people living in Bedfordshire.

Bedfordshire is a wonderful place to live and the people of Bedfordshire deserve better health and a world class health service. Our goal is to make sure that this becomes a reality.

The challenges are great. Demand for healthcare will keep increasing as our population grows and more people live longer. Health inequalities remain stubbornly persistent. People rightly have higher expectations of their NHS and we have to rise to meet those expectations.

We have set ourselves ambitious goals and we will not achieve them by doing more of the same.

Out strategy is about change. We need to change how healthcare is delivered with more services provided safely and effectively in local communities, closer to home. That will free our hospitals to concentrate on more complex care. Our strategy sets out how we will shift investment, over time, from hospitals to communities to make this happen.

Out strategy is also about partnerships. We will work closely with our partners to plan and deliver services. We will work with our residents to support and empower communities and individuals to improve their health and well-being.

At the hear of our strategy is the prise of securing a healthier Bedfordshire for all, helping people to enjoy a linger life and a better quality of life.

To achieve these ambitions, we have reviewed the structure of the board and Executive Team and now seek to make three key appointments to support our deliver our strategy.
