Head of Property Management

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, this new post offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to join the Services Group of MMU at a pivotal time in the development of the University. The Head of Property Management will lead the restructuring and enhancement of a range of key services underpinning maintenance and estate management of the University’s property portfolio. The aim is to provide a broad range of customer orientated professional services to support the engagement, learning, wellbeing and employability of MMU students and provide a high quality working environment for staff.

The University is embarking on a £250m capital investment programme in world-class buildings and facilities over a period of 5 years to consolidate the existing 7 campuses into 3: All Saints (Manchester Central), Didsbury (South Manchester) and Crewe (MMU Cheshire). This post offers the opportunity to make a key contribution to differentiating MMU in the diversifying HE marketplace.

Principle Accountabilities

To provide senior strategic leadership and direction for the development and University-wide delivery of a range of professional services to underpin the University brand and support an excellent student experience, retention, achievement and satisfaction through the development of the University’s property and estates, creating environments that are welcoming, secure, supportive and sustainable (see attached organisational chart).

Benefits

A  basic salary of up to £65,000 per annum, plus 30 days annual leave and final salary pension.  Private health care cover is provided.

The Services Group

The Services Group has recently undergone a reconfiguration process, splitting into two major functional areas:

  • Facilities
  • Learning and Research Information Services

This structure will enable:

  • a significant shift in the quality of MMU’s services management
  • fully integrated services focused on the customer base
  • greater flexibility in the deployment of Services Group staff
  • a demand-led approach to the provision of a range of services over extended hours aligned to the business needs of Faculties and the administration
  • an enhanced commitment to CPD and career development
  • market testing and exploration of partnering arrangements for service delivery
  • efficiency savings and capacity for reinvestment
