Jobs with Lloyd's Register

Our key areas of business

We provide independent assurance to individual clients who are typically managing large-scale, high value assets where the cost of mistakes can be very high, both financially and in terms of the impact on local communities and the environment. In such a setting, organisations need advice and support they can trust to create safe, responsible and sustainable supply chains.

Our clients range from large multinational companies to small local businesses; from shipowners and giants in the energy market to those who deliver goods to shops and homes. So many of the everyday things people rely on have benefited from our help. Many companies in the sectors we serve recognise the value of working with us and trust us to help them improve safety, quality and business performance.

With committed work in the pipeline, we are actively looking to hire expertise within each area of our business.

Our Marine business principally involves classification of ships, which sets standards of quality and reliability during their design, construction and operation. As well as carrying out statutory inspections for national administrations, required by international shipping conventions and codes, we also help ship owners and operators understand risks and improve business performance.

Our Transportation teams offer a complete range of engineering, safety, risk and management systems services to the land transport sector. Through a number of acquisitions LR has developed a pool of technical expertise that is unique in the rail industry. We have centres of excellence in the UK and LRRE in Utrecht, Holland. Together with the risk management expertise of Scandpower these centres are supporting the growth of the businesses in Asia, the Gulf and continental Europe.

We provide compliance, technical consulting and business solutions to companies of all sizes and from all sectors within the energy industry - upstream downstream, power and manufacturing. Our Energy business helps clients to improve the safety, reliability and performance of their assets.

Floating offshore installations

A significant part of our business is in delivering services to the owners and operators of floating offshore installations. As these installations become increasingly technically complex in meeting the demands of a developing industry, it is vital that our technical capacity and capability matches pace. LR makes a difference by providing engineering support and challenge to ensure that risk management, efficiency, sustainability and, above all else, safety remain at the heart of our client's business thinking.

Our expertise in business assurance and management systems is world class. LRQA is the world's leading international supplier of management systems certification. Our aim is to help clients use management systems to reduce risk and improve their business performance, as well as providing certification of compliance with international management system standards.
