Our position in the Top 10 Universities, based on the quality of our work, ranks Lancaster as the leading university in the north of England.  Lancaster is also currently ranked the top University in the North West in the Independent, Guardian, Times and Sunday Times league tables.

About CETAD

CETAD (Centre for Training and Development) was established in 1990 as a work-based learning centre at Charlotte Mason College in Ambleside with a remit to generate additional income for the college. After becoming part of Lancaster University, CETAD was relocated to the Bailrigg campus in September 1996.  Prior to 1998, accreditation was higher level NVQs rather than University awards.  In 1998, higher education accreditation was introduced, initially all programmes being offered with dual accreditation.  This aspect of our work was highlighted in our inclusion in Integrating Work-based Learning into Higher Education: A Guide to Good Practice (UVAC, 2005).  Now, the centre offers a range of higher education awards at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including Certificates, Foundation Degrees, Honours Degrees and Masters Degrees.  The centre specialises in organisational and management development, work with children and young people, guidance and learning and development. See www.cetad.lancs.ac.uk for further details.

Our mission is: “We work with individuals and organisations to achieve success through high quality accredited work-based learning.  We enable people to learn; we make a difference.”
