People profiles

Sven Peters - Gas Systems Engineer

Explain your role within Dungs and why you enjoy working there?

My main roles within Dungs are to design new gas systems, assist the sales team and customers with technical support and to assist the technical manager in all aspects relating to the technical side of the business. Day-to-day the work I do is varied. I enjoy working at Dungs because of the flexibility of my job role and the people I work with. Day-by-day I can see myself learning new things, gaining experience and also becoming more confident, this provides great motivation and enables me to perform my role within the company better. I always find work interesting as there is continually more I can learn.

What's the culture like working at Dungs?

Dungs is a very friendly environment to work in. Because the UK subsidiary is a relatively small company, everyone knows everyone else and you actually get to know the entire team as opposed to vaguely knowing a much larger group of people. Because everyone knows their role and the team works so well together the management style is quite relaxed. The different departments within the company highly depend upon each other and it’s a surprise if you haven’t discussed some aspect of work with every person in the company by lunchtime. Everyone has an important role to play, there is no office junior and everyone is expected to make their fair share of tea and coffee.

What would you say to encourage someone to join Dungs?

I would say Dungs is the ideal place to work for someone with an interest in the Gas Industry, who would like to be part of a company with solid roots and aspirations to expand. Dungs has a firm foothold within the market which gives us the stability and opportunity to move forward within the current market and to explore further opportunities. On an individual level, if there is a part of your job you wish to develop further, or if you want to expand your role within the company, assistance is given to try and fulfil these requirements. This improves the individual capabilities of the person and therefore improves the performance and flexibility of the team. Personally, I recently asked for training and experience on the sales aspects of the business, I have had the opportunity to shadow the Sales Office Manager and to work within the sales team to achieve this.
