BRIEF HISTORY

In 1991 the present Managing Director (Chris Wilcox) acquired Harris Cox, which at that time had an embryonic business in shop fitting systems. Amongst the initial customers was Burtons, and they are still purchasing systems from Harris Cox today.

At the time of acquisition the company occupied premises of 600 square metres and manufactured 80% of the product. Today the company operates from a 12,000 square metre factory with an independent warehousing operation and has a diverse manufacturing capability and extensive purchasing know how offering a turn key service.

Products range from high quality and bespoke joinery to mass produced systems using the latest CAD techniques and materials which range from chipboard to stainless steel. Processes can be as complex or as traditional as the customer requires as the company enjoys a loyal and highly skilled and flexible workforce.

CUSTOMER LOYALTY

A combination of service, quality and price, plus an intimate knowledge of the customer’s business enables us to anticipate needs and requirements from prototypes to installation. Although subject to tenders the overall package which Harris Cox offers in project managing its products is a unique benefit to the customer.

Customers include: Burtons, New Look, Clarks and BHS.

WHO ARE MAIN COMPETITORS

The main competitors are shop fitting companies who have acquired a manufacturing capability as an adjunct to their activities.

Harris Cox first and foremost is a manufacturer which understands the product and the need for quality, service and value to the customer.

DIFFERENCE FROM MAIN COMPETITORS

The primary difference between Harris Cox and its main competitors is that we have invested heavily in both technical machining capability and resources enabling us to produce a high quality product normally only associated with the largest companies whilst maintaining the flexibility and personal service which is so often overlooked by larger organisations.

ORGANISATION’S COMPETITIVE STRATEGY

Harris Cox competitive strategy is based predominantly on cost. Potential clients are identified by product types that hone in on Harris Cox strengths. We are prepared to offer stock holding, inventory management and warehousing facilities for non manufactured product.
