Guthlaxton College is located in Wigston, a suburb of Leicester in England. It is located four miles outside of the city boundary, forming part of the Oadby and Wigston district of Leicestershire.
Wigston benefits from easy access to the M1 and M69 Motorways and a railway station on the Birmingham to Peterborough line 3km south of Leicester Station. The school can be easily commuted to from Coventry, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire as well as from the wider County of Leicestershire and Rutland.
Significant resources have been invested in transforming the city centre into a clean, vibrant and pedestrian-friendly zone which now offers awe-inspiring architecture and 21st century shopping in the shape of the new £350 million Highcross Shopping Centre. The Centre provides a mix of fashionable stores, stylish restaurants and true city centre living that has reinvented Leicester and changed the perception of the city.
Leicester is the most culturally diverse city in the UK and is home to a thriving ethnic minority community accounting for more than a third of the City’s population. The City offers vibrant multicultural festivals and celebrations, hosting the largest Diwali celebration outside India. Leicester is also home to two major Universities and the National Space Centre as well as the new Curve Theatre which offers world class performing arts all of which contribute heavily to the vibrant culture of the area.
The City is also famous for its sporting history with both Leicester Tigers Rugby Football Club and Leicester City Football Club providing memorable and exciting sporting occasions at their state of the art stadiums, Welford Road and The Walkers Stadium.
