BOA is an independent state funded 14-19 academy specialising in creative, digital and performing arts. It is sponsored by Ormiston trust and Birmingham City University and its founding partners are Maverick TV and the Brit School. More recently it has been partnered with Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

The academy opened in September 2011 in a brand new building located in the heart of Birmingham. Our facilities are superb.

100% selective, our students gain admission via an aptitude workshop in their chosen specialism. Our academy is at the forefront of the development of the arts and creative industries and our students have unique opportunities to work with leading professionals and practitioners in the world of work.

It is vital our students receive outstanding teaching and are given constant support and guidance to ensure they maximise their talent and realise their full potential. We are committed to true personalisation and every member of staff will be expected to play a part in the pastoral system.

To reflect the natural and flexible approach of this academy, BOA has its own pay scale and conditions of service. Salaries are individually negotiated.

There is an understanding that staff have to be flexible in their hours of work to accommodate the commitment to extra-curricular events, partnership and extended services.
