What is recruitment consulting?
The business world at your fingertips
A career in specialist recruitment with Hays is like no other. At Hays, we believe the right job can transform a person's life, and the right person can transform a business. Handling the careers and aspirations of professional people - and thus directly influencing their lives - is something most people never have the chance to do. At Hays, you'll do it every day.
As a Consultant, you will manage your own client portfolio and source the most suitable candidates. Entrepreneurialism is encouraged, and you are free to work with a high degree of autonomy.
Our culture in unashamedly meritocratic: if you are dynamic, can build strong relationships with customers and across the business, and know how to get results, it's within your power to move quickly through the ranks. On any given day, amongst other things, you are likely to be involved in the following:
• Attracting talent through advertising campaigns
• Screening and interviewing candidates
• Attending promotional and networking events
• Business development
• Presenting to clients
• On-going management of client relationships
Delivering a highly professional business consultancy service in a complex environment - both with clients and candidates - will not only sharpen your sales and consultancy skills, it will hone your commercial acumen and experience.
Is it right for me?
We recruit the attitude and develop the skills
You might not know what you want to be or do. You may have embarked on a career that simply isn't you, or you may have recently graduated and still be trying to work out what that career should be.
There is no typical profile of a successful consultant at Hays. We employ people with diverse work and life experiences: from recent graduates from all disciplines through to expert sales people, engineers, accountants and lawyers.
There are however, certain qualities and competencies that are common amongst the most successful consultants at Hays: passion for their work, desire to build and share their expertise, determination to be the best, drive to exceed targets and commitment to exceptional customer service. We are most interested in who you are and the attitude you bring to work every day.
Recruitment is an incredibly demanding environment and the people who succeed are exceptionally motivated. Strength of character is what will ensure that you achieve your goals. You will need to be able to work under pressure and manage the most challenging workloads.
You will need to respond proactively and positively to targets. There is no room for complacency in a sales environment. When you succeed, you will aim at even higher goals. Your exceptional communication skills will hold you in good stead to build strong business relationships.

As a global leader in specialist recruitment, we have developed many techniques for recruiting our own staff. The recruitment consultant applications are captured through a variety of sources:
You can apply for roles through this website by searching our vacancies. This provides you with information about positions available, location and other details. We would also suggest that you set up an account and subscribe to job alerts so that you are amongst the first to hear about our latest vacancies
We also advertise extensively through a variety of job sites and through recruitment fairs to capture a wide range of candidates and so you may respond to a specific advertisement.
Once you have applied your application will follow a structured path. This is as follows:
• An initial CV review to ensure your application meets our essential criteria.
• A competency based telephone interview conducted by an Internal Recruitment Partner.
At least one further interview with an operational manager working with the team that has a vacancy. There may be additional meeting and discussions to ensure you meet the right people and know we are right for you. Wherever possible, more than one person will be involved in the recruitment, interview and selection process.
We hope that your application is successful.
